Mark Eastwood Attends Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
Mark Eastwood MP has enjoyed attending various events over the last few days to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee across Dewsbury, Mirfield, Kirkburton and Denby Dale.
Commenting Mark Eastwood MP said:
It has been wonderful to see families, friends, and communities come together to celebrate this unprecedented landmark in Her Majesty's remarkable reign
On Thursday it was an honour to say a few words in tribute to Her Majesty The Queen, prior to the Jubilee beacon lighting in Emley. Earlier in the day, I also attended packed out events at Earlsheaton Conservative Club and Hanging Heaton Cricket Club.
It was a pleasure to visit the Thurstonland Jubilee Scarecrow Trail on Friday, followed by a trip to the Burton Jubilee Beer Festival at Kirkburton Scouts HQ, Hallas Road. Many thanks to Thurstonland Village Association Chairman, David Jones, and local resident, George, for giving me a full tour of all the very creative scarecrows, depicting significant events that have occurred over the last 70 years.
Saturday provided another fun-packed day of visits to Jubilee events across the constituency. Starting at Kirkburton Village Fair with Cllr John Taylor, then on to Shelley Picnic in the Park, Birdsedge Village Hall and rounding off the day at the Bath Hotel in Dewsbury.
On Sunday afternoon, I headed over to St Paul’s Church for the Mirfield In Bloom Jubilee Picnic. Where I personally congratulated the group on being awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service and for the amazing work they do for the town.
Finally, on Sunday, I attended a terrific concert at Dewsbury Town Hall, Huge thanks to Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra and Kirklees Council for organising such an enjoyable event.
