On Friday 16th November 2018 Mark Eastwood, a well known local campaigner in Dewsbury and Chairman of the Association was selected by a member's vote to be the parliamentary candidate for the Constituency and the future MP for Dewsbury.
Speaking after the vote Mark said, "I am both humbled and honoured to be been slected to represent the Party in my home constituency, an area I have worked in for the last 10 years and I am looking forward to taking my campaign out into the communities in the area. I do hope that people will let me know their issues and concerns so that I can try to resolve them and once I am their MP I will ensure that I am the voice of Dewsbury in Westminster, not the vote of Westminister in Dewsbury."
After the meeting which was chaired by Jason McCartney, the former MP for Colne Valley, the Deputy Chairman of the Association, Cllr John Taylor, who organised the selection process said, " I am really pleased for Mark, he is a formidible campaigner and an established figure in Dewsbury, I am sure with his hard working, can do attitude, we will be well placed to turn Dewsbury Blue once more."
