Mark Eastwood has kicked off Hospice Care Week 2023 by holding his own "Kirkwood Cuppa" - The Kirkwood's annual fundraising coffee morning.
Ahead of the event Mark was invited to The Kirkwood to meet with the senior team and see for himself the world-class patient facilities, the beautiful surroundings and the hard work that goes in to keeping one of the area's favourite charities up and running.
Mark even tried his hand at sorting the goods for Ebay, and learned how valuable donations fetch the best price possible to keep money coming in for The Kirkwood.
Mark said,
"I've been a supporter of The Kirkwood for a long time, and I'm pleased to be able to support them again during Hospice Care week. Last year The Kirkwood's running costs were over £10 million, but they are worth every penny and they deserve our support for the amazing work they do".
The Kirkwood doesn’t just need cash though - over 800 volunteers man the phone lines, tend the vegetable patch and even help to lead the charity!
Chair of trustees Lorraine Chapman said,
"Almost everyone has a skill that can help us at The Kirkwood, and we'd love for more people to get involved and share their talents. I find it really rewarding, and I know that everyone else at The Kirkwood does too,"
