One of my roles outside of being a constituency MP is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Safer Standing. As a keen football fan it's an issue that I care about - I believe that we should all be able to enjoy the game we love and be part of the action whilst keeping spectators as safe as we can.
APPGs are groups which comprise MPs and peers from all political parties, working together on specific issues that are either important to us personally or to our constituents. APPGs are voluntary and members and chairs receive no extra pay or allowances.
In my capacity as Chair of the APPG for Safer Standing this week I had the opportunity to meet with Minister for Football Stuart Andrew. We discussed safer standing in stadiums, and I thank him for a very productive meeting.
