The Government announced on 18th February, thousands of pounds of support including grants, council tax relief and business rate relief for people and businesses in areas affected by flooding. People whose homes or businesses were “significantly affected” can apply to receive a quick cash payment of up to £500 and £2,500 respectively from their local councils, under the Flood Recovery Framework.

During the recent floods, Mark Eastwood MP visited Mirfield with Cllr Martin Bolt to see the devastating impact of flooding on homes, businesses and proposed development sites.
Mark today lobbied Kirklees Council to ensure that this funding is released swiftly to assist the affected residents and businesses.
