The NHS COVID-19 vaccination rollout in Kirklees is getting a boost with the opening of four new vaccination centres this week.
Jabs will be available at the following four pharmacy run services:
- Whittaker St Mosque, Batley
- St Andrews Methodist Church, Liversedge
- Slaithwaite Civic Hall
- Clayton West Darby and Joan Club
Anyone in an eligible group can book a vaccine now using the NHS National Booking System at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or by calling 119. This allows you to select an appointment at a time and place to suit you.
Asghar Khan, managing director of Medicare Chemists which is providing the new services in Slaithwaite and Clayton West said, "We're delighted to be playing our part in the national vaccination programme. We've been delivering the COVID-19 vaccination at Honley Village Hall since January so have a lot of experience. These new locations offer people in Kirklees more choice about where to have their vaccination, which is great news."
There are now 11 locations in Kirklees offering vaccinations including a large-scale vaccination centre at John Smith’s Stadium. Some local GPs are also continuing to work together to provide vaccination services across the district and are busy contacting patients to offer them appointments.
Steve Brennan, lead for the vaccination programme in Kirklees, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to get their vaccinations and the new services give people additional options to choose from.
“All our centres are continuing to offer appointments and have availability so if you are eligible, please don’t delay and book your appointment now. It’s easy to do and will help to protect both you and your loved ones.”
